Friends of MHC - Madrid Home Communities

Friends of MHC

The purpose of the FMHC (Friends of Madrid Home Communities) is to support the mission of Madrid Home Communities and to enrich the lives of residents both spiritually and emotionally.

FMHC continues to make vital contributions to our mission of “Christ Centered Service”. In 2015, 325 volunteers provided over 10,500 hours of service to the residents at the Madrid Home, Ballard Creek and Cedars. Volunteers serve as delegates and board members, operate Greater Love, lead Bible Studies, staff the Gift Shop, help with Worship Services, assist with activity programs and provide entertainment and leisure activities. They donate and wrap Christmas gifts, make baked goods and craft items for fundraisers, take care of plants, sew, garden and provide residents with companionship and so much more! The contributions and impact of volunteers for Madrid Home Communities is immeasurable!

In 2015, FMHC events have raised $6,000. Starting with the Spring Brunch & Bake Sale. Funds raised this past year helped with the updated costs associated with the renovations to the 2nd floor galley kitchen and dining area.

Through memorial contributions and fundraisers, Friends will continue to work toward expanding the Music & Memory Program to included all residents of the Madrid Home as well as outdoor projects at the Cedars and fitness facility upgrades at Ballard creek.Friends of the Madrid Home projects are selected based on the needs and requests of the residents served at all three campuses.

The 2017 FRIENDS Projects are Madrid Home: To expand the Music & Memory Program to included all residents of the Madrid Home. This involves the use of Ipods and specific play lists for the residents.
Cedars: To enhance the Garden Room outdoor patio by adding a pergola, additional outdoor seating, raised garden beds and low maintenance landscaping.
Ballard Creek: To create a senior friendly fitness room for our residents and staff.
All locations would like to begin an “Adopt a Garden” program where families or civic groups adopt one of our flowerbeds and maintains it throughout the year.
Skilled Rehab: We want to challenge each member church to sponsoring a rehab room renovation!

The environment for our residents is the primary focus because it has a strong impact on the resident’s quality of life, first impressions to family and guests and to the pride and satisfaction an employee has in their workplace. Friends of Madrid Home Communities projects are selected based on the needs and requests of the residents served at all three campuses.

Anyone with an express interest in the mission of Madrid Home Communities and the welfare of the people served is considered a “Friend.”

Something has been blooming in the Entry Garden most of the summer. Residents have enjoyed cutting flowers and sampling fresh tomatoes.

A new patio table and chairs gives residents at Ballard Creek Community a nice place to visit and enjoy the fresh air.

The walking path that follows the tree line on the north and west of the Madrid Home is complete. Benches have been ordered for rest areas and will be installed soon.
