What's Happening at Madrid Home Communities:

20 years at Ballard Creek Assisted Living! This lady has been here since opening day & wow has she done a lot over the years. It won't be the same without you. May your time now be full of seeing family & friends more & sometimes just sleeping in. We wish you only the best & thank you for everything you've done. Also, thanks to all who stopped by & helped make this party extra special. Happy Retirement Day Verda!!!

Congratulations too Sarah Miller @ Ballard Creek for her award as volunteer of the year!

Madrid Home Communities had our annual volunteer appreciation dinner! It was such a wonderful turn out & I can’t thank everyone enough for their time and talents they devote year round into the Madrid home communities! You are all rock stars!

Chone, a Madrid Home employee since 2012 was rewarded yesterday,

after a lot of hard work and dedication, her American citizenship!

Congrats Chone!

The halls of Madrid Home are missing a long-time employee.
Rosie Burkeretired Friday after over 43 years of service.
Thank you for all the love and care you provided!
You are missed already.

Congratulations to our Julie Rossow and the 2018 Honorees!
You are some of the best and brightest in nursing and
we're honored to be able to celebrate your achievements!

Happy anniversary you two!

We all helped Mr and Mrs Papich celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary!

This week has been extra fun at Ballard Creek! Did a little creative drawing session where two of our residents hand drew some awesome pictures. We also enjoyed getting to know the new RN as she came to see the residents during our Valentine craft. Everyone made such pretty frames Thanks all for joining!

The High School Carolers came in and sang Christmas songs for and with the residents....Then the “crazy 8’s” 8th grade group spent an hour doing Christmas cookie decorating, Christmas crafts & visiting with our residents!
It was so heart warming to see smile on not only our residents faces,
but the kids also!

What a GREAT evening! Madrid Home took a Men's group outing to Hickory Park for dinner and then to a program about a B-17 bomber that crashed near Maxwell, IA!

Friends of the Madrid Home Project Update

Every year we evaluate the condition of every campus. With hundreds of older adults served, our surroundings become worn and in need of updating. Residents, family, and/or staff suggest projects that are worthy of a Friends fundraiser. 100% of all money raised is applied to the identified project.

PROJECTS WE ARE WORKING ON:

• We plan to redecorate the Madrid Home’s dining room facilities
• Renovating and remodeling 3rd floor of the Madrid Home
• Purchase new dining room chairs for the Cedars Assisted Living in Madrid
• Apartment renovations and remolding at Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that's pretty much the same thing!" Yesterday was National Peach Ice Cream day! Thank you to Picket Fence Creamery for the great delicious ice cream!

These ladies from Ballard Creek took a little trip to McFarland Park for the first time today to learn about certain animals. They enjoyed the trip & we even had time to stop for ice cream afterwards which put more smiles on their faces.

Ballard Creek residents took their Friday to a whole new level of fun! They got to experience such a neat way to cook. Many laughs with egg throwing, great conversations, & yummy food for lunch. For a few of the residents this was their first time here & they loved it!
