Halloween invades Madrid Home Communities

What a GREAT evening! Madrid Home took a Men's group outing to Hickory Park for dinner and then to a program about a B-17 bomber that crashed near Maxwell, IA!

Friends of the Madrid Home Project Update

Every year we evaluate the condition of every campus. With hundreds of older adults served, our surroundings become worn and in need of updating. Residents, family, and/or sta suggest projects that are worthy of a Friends fundraiser. 100% of all money raised is applied to the identified project.

• We plan to redecorate the Madrid Home’s dining room facilities
• Renovating and remodeling 3rd oor of the Madrid Home
• Purchase new dining room chairs for e Cedars Assisted Living in Madrid
• Apartment renovations and remolding at Ballard Creek Assisted Living in Huxley+

Message from the Friends of the Madrid Home Coordinator

As you know the year is flying by! We have a few short months until Christmas is upon us. I am trying to get a jump start on a few things; on November 19th we have our Fall Bazaar and Bake Sale. We are and will be looking for homemade craft items and homemade baked goods.
We also do an Avenue of Trees, where anyone can decorate a 3ft tree or wreath, themed or not, and will be put into a silent auction that will last a week or so after the Bazaar. I will be sending out a flyer once it gets a little closer to be put in the church bulletins.

Shortly after that we will have to prepare for Christmas for all our residents here at the Madrid Home. Our Resident Christmas party will be held on December 22nd and I will have open times December 11th- 15th for volunteers to come help wrap Christmas presents! (call and schedule a time if you are interested) Remember we try to give each resident 3 gifts!

Some things that are good for Christmas presents are;

·         pants of any size (elastic band)

·         nail polish

·         jewelry

·         grippy socks

·         individual snacks

·         shirts of any size

·         Kleenex

·         Calendars for 2018

If you have any craft items for the bazaar you may drop them off at the Madrid Home or may contact me and I can meet to pick up- along with any Christmas present donations.

You may contact me @ either (515)-795-3007 and ask for Tanae Hollar (Activity Director) or my personal Cell @ (515)-494-7689. I also do text messaging.

Thank you all again for everything you do to put smiles on our residents faces! Not only do they appreciate it, but we do too!

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that's pretty much the same thing!" Yesterday was National Peach Ice Cream day! Thank you to Picket Fence Creamery for the great delicious ice cream!

These ladies from Ballard Creek took a little trip to McFarland Park for the first time today to learn about certain animals. They enjoyed the trip & we even had time to stop for ice cream afterwards which put more smiles on their faces.

Ballard Creek residents took their Friday to a whole new level of fun! They got to experience such a neat way to cook. Many laughs with egg throwing, great conversations, & yummy food for lunch. For a few of the residents this was their first time here & they loved it!
