Hospice

Grace and Peace!
Carla Werre, Chaplain,
Madrid Homes

Our goal at Madrid Homes is "to add life to years" to those we serve.

An important part of that goal is to provide the best end-of-life care possible.  It has long been a dream to have a comfortable, private environment for terminally ill residents and families during this difficult time.

The hospice-type rooms, known as The Havens, were designed to provide, comfort, blessing and peace.

 We Offer:
 Comfortable, private enivorment
Amenities provided for family visits including coffee maker, microwave, stero and TV

Our prayer is that these rooms will be havens of comfort, blessing and peace for all who enter.

A person coming from the hospital or home will be admitted to the Madrid Home, who will provide the nursing care, according to the regular procedures. The criteria for placement will be based on the signs and symptoms of the end of life process as determined by the Hospice agency, who provide hospice care:
e.g., cyanosis, decreased level of consciousness, decreased intake, etc.  The determination will be a team decision by the Care Plan Committee and Hospice personnel.

 1. A weekly evaluation will be done by this team to ensure the placement continues to be necessary/well-founded.

 2. The limit of stay will be 6 weeks.

 3. It is understood that there may be some exceptions made if conditions warrant.

  4. As available, the rooms may be used for respite for persons in the community.  Respite is defined as 5 nights, 6 days with the plan to return home.

Madrid Homes residents have first priority for placement to the hospice-type rooms
